The MnPnCalc program determines the nominal flexural strength and the nominal compressive strength for fabricated and standard shapes per AISC 360-16 Specification. The Specification has numerous equations that lead up to the strength determination. The intent of the program is to provide the user with a ready means of determining the strength of a structural section without having to refer to the Specification. It does not calculate bending moments or compression loads, which is left up to the user.
Caution and good engineering knowledge should be used in the selection of parameters as well as the interpretation of the results.
Standard structural shapes are as defined by AISC Database v15 and may be selected from a popup window. Fabricated shapes are essentially the same except that the dimensions may be customized. Imperial and metric units supported.
